Benefits of Olive Oil

Gourmet Olive Oil

Olive oil, especially extra virgin olive oil (EVOO), has important health benefits. It contains Vitamins E and K, omega-6, omega-3, saturated and monounsaturated fat.

One particularly important active ingredient of olive oil is phenols. Two particular phenols (found in our A³ Premium olive oil) that have significant health benefits are oleocanthal and oleacein. These give the olive oil significant anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties leading to

Healthier immune system
Reduced risk of chronic diseases
Reduced risk of  stroke
Reduced risk of  type 2 diabetes
Improved cholesterol level
Improvement of bone density
Reduced risk of Alzheimer’s disease
Polyphenol

Benefits of phenols

  1. Antioxidant: against free radicals that damage our arteries especially in our heart and brain

  2. Platelet function: less problems with intravascular clotting and blood vessel damage

  3. Inhibition of growth of Helicobacter pylori, that causes stomach ulcers and contributes to stomach cancer and other digestive problems

  4. Inhibiting growth of unwanted harmful bacteria and bringing balance of helpful bacteria within our digestive tract

The effects of these phenols are not dependent on large consumption of extra virgin olive oil. As much as 1-2 tablespoons of good quality high phenolic organic EVOO (such as A³ Premium - High Phenolic EVOO) per day have shown significant health benefits.
